MINUTES of COMMITTEE MEETING held on Thursday, 31st
January, 2019
Present: Mrs B Gillen (Chair), Ms M Thornburrow (Secretary), Ms L Chambers (Treasurer),
Mrs J Garner, Mr D Pedley and Mr P Phizacklea.

1894 Minutes of Previous Meeting: The Minutes of the Committee Meeting held on 13th
December,
2018 were approved by the Committee and signed by the Chair.
1895 Secretary’s Report: ACTION
Bowling Green Irrigation System: Grant applications are ongoing. MT
Cabaret Admission Payment: As Cabaret Evenings are not a usual Club social night, then any
admission must be paid for.
Spare Bonus Ball:For information please contact Mrs E Dawes on 833942.
Hospice Donation: A letter of thanks from St. Mary’s Hospice is now on display on the notice
board.
1896 Treasurer’s Report:
Fifty people had attended the Club’s New Year’s Eve party. In spite of the entry fee being reduced
by a half, takings were higher that at last year’s event.
Exceptional expenditure has been on the bar bottle fridge and the beer store door.
The Savings Account is healthy.
1897 Maintenance Issues:
A temporary repair has been made to the verandah roof.
1898 Bowling Secretary’s Report:
It is still very quiet on the bowling front, with only one meeting. The Minutes of Cumbria County
Meetings will now appear on the Furness website. Fees for new and replacement
CU cards are £12 and £4. Finally, the Furness League are looking for suggestions for
bringing back the KO cup and welcome suggestions for any ideas on new formats for this
competition. If you have any ideas, please write to Dave Pedley. All fixtures for 2019 season are
on the relevant sites via Bowling Results website.
1899 Advertising Boards: Nil to report.
1900 Bar Manager’s Report:
Brewery reps had offered competitive rates on beers and lagers, but as these were understood to be
temporary pricing, it was decided to stay with the current arrangements.
1901 Fundraising and Social Activities Report:
It was agreed that admission should be £5 per car to the Car Boot Sale on 14th
April, each car occupying two parking bays.
1902 Health & Safety: Nil to report.
1903 ANY OTHER BUSINESS: None
