Minutes of Meeting held on 15th November, 2018

1872 Minutes of Previous Meeting: ACTION
The Minutes of the Meeting held on 18th October, 2018 were
approved by the Committee and signed by the Chair.
1873 Secretary’s Report:
Promotion of Social Activities Announcements of forthcoming
coffee mornings, quizzes, concerts, cabarets, etc will be
ongoing at all Club events, in the hope of increasing
attendances. Radio Cumbria to be contacted. MT
1874 Treasurer’s Report:
Exceptional expenses have been the new beer hut door and
servicing of boiler (sensor replaced). The leaking kitchen
roof awaits imminent repair.
Functions of new till are proving to be very useful in the
managing and analysing of the Club’s income and expend-
-iture.
1875 Maintenance Issues:
An overhead lamp will be sited above the HeartStart cabinet.
The area below the score board has been tidied up.
1876 Bowling Secretary’s Report:
As expected, both the Furness and Ulverston League AGMs
were quick meetings, with no mandates on the agenda at the
Furness meeting; the mandates from Glaxo for the Ulverston
League were rejected as they were late in arrival and were
not presented in the correct format. The only decision taken
at the Ulverston meeting was to allow Lindal A back into the
2nd Division.
The dates for next year’s Open Competitions are:
Rotary Singles Sunday, 26th May
Ladies Pairs Friday, 7th June
Mixed Pairs Sunday, 14th July
The dates for Bowling AGMs and Signing-on are:
Ladies Tuesday, 5th February, 6.30pm
Seniors Wednesday, 6th February, 1pm
Men Thursday, 7th February, 7pm
The Senior Men’s Secretary said that their AGM meeting is
important, as it enables the Club to move forward in the
approach it takes towards the next bowling season. Please
Contact the Secretary, Liz Dawes if you have any items for
the Agenda, alternatively you can enter details on a notice
to be displayed on the Club’s board, 1st December onwards.
Only items on the Agenda will be discussed, to avoid any
dilution of the meeting. Any notifications before 20th
January, please.
Posters of the above will be displayed on the Club’s website
and Notice Boards.
1877 Advertising Boards:
Mr M Ellis said that there is one outstanding payment. If
payment is not made, then the board will be taken down.
1878 Bar Manager’s Report:
The next few weeks will be busy for the bar. Christmas Eve
opening will be 3pm for a few hours. Boxing Day may open –
– this will be confirmed.
Bar vouchers will be given as part of the New Year’s eve
raffle.
1879 Fundraising/Social Activities Report:
The flower-arranging event had been very successful, and
tickets are selling well for the Christmas Coffee Morning on
Saturday, 1st December, 9.30-11.30am.

The 15th December sees the Co-op Singers hosting their
Annual Christmas Concert. To book your seats, please ring
Roy on 837344. Admission £2 each.
The New Year’s Party is £7.50 each, for a great lead-up to
2019. John Mario will entertain us. To book, please ring
Brenda on 471853.

1880 Health & Safety Issues: None
1881 Any Other Business:
The Co-op Club Annual General Meeting will be held on
Tuesday, 19th February, 2019, at 7pm.
The Club’s dance floor has recently been given a deep clean,
and resurfacing will be arranged.
Bowling trophies are currently being engraved, and will be
repositioned on the lounge wall by the Bar.
A substantial sum of money was gratefully received from Mrs
June Hewitt, from the sale of her wonderful jams and
chutneys and donated tomatoes.
Discussion about the bare walls in the lounge was again
inconclusive.
