1502 Secretary’s Report:
In an effort to ensure staffing of the bar is covered during all functions, a calendar has been provided. This is to be used by the relevant officials whenever bar cover is needed.
Membership forms for 2015 are now available from a pouch on the noticeboard, from bar staff or by download from the Club website (www.coopclub.co.uk). Members (‘Life’ and ‘Annual’) are asked to please provide an email address wherever possible.
1502 Treasurer’s Report:
Mrs Christian presented the committee with a breakdown of the accounts for the 12 months to December 2014. The presentation was very comprehensive and indicated where all the spending and income was from over the year. The balance sheet is healthy.
Several new methods have been implemented to easily identify the details of club finances. The committee agreed that these were valuable for the control of finances in the future.
1503 Maintenance Manager’s Report:
On the day of the meeting (15th Jan), progress on the gas supply installation work appeared to be on track. The gas connection to the grid had been completed that morning and we were anticipating a meter to be fitted the following day (16th) and the possible commissioning of the boiler system in time for the cabaret on Saturday (17th). However, an email on the 16th revealed that the meter would not be fitted until Thu 22nd. So the new expected date for a warm Club is now Friday 23rd. Here’s hoping!!
1504 Bar Report/Advertising Boards:
Bar cover for two upcoming private functions was arranged.
1505 Bowling Secretary’s Report:
There is to be a Furness delegates meeting at the Club on the 20th January at 7.00pm.
The following comps have been arranged:
- Rotary singles 24th May
- Ladies pairs 7th June
- Mixed pairs 12th July
- Wine Guild 8th July (tbc)
1506 Fund Raising/Social Events:
The Spring coffee morning was discussed and a date decided. It will be held on Fri 15th May, from 9.30 to 11.30.
1507 H&S Issues:
No new issues raised.
1508 Any Other Business:
Standby Lawn Mower: AC/DB
The condition of the old lawn mower was assessed by Armers at the same time we purchased the new machine. A price for reconditioning the machine was given and the committee decided that we should wait until we were confident that Club finances could support the outlay before going ahead. In view of the current healthy balance sheet the committee has therefore decided that we should now have the work done.
Club Lighting: AC
The current halogen downlights are regarded as inefficient. Whilst cheap to buy individually, they do not last long and consume a lot of power. It was agreed that we should look to replacing them with equivalent led lamps as the current ones fail.
The Club was open from 2:00pm on Christmas Eve until late and was regarded as a huge success with a real festive atmosphere as members came and went throughout the afternoon and evening. Therefore it was decided that this would become a regular event at the Club.
The Christmas card and New Year’s Eve collection for the Hospice raised £169.60. Thankyou to all who contributed.
Signing-on takes place as follows:
- Ladies – 10th Feb at 6:30pm
- Pensioners – 11th Feb at 1:00pm
- Ulverston & Furness Men – 12th Feb at 7:00pm
Club fees are £8 and Green fees are £12
The AGM is to be held on Tuesday 17th Feb at 7:00pm. Please make an effort to attend and voice your opinion on any Club matters.
1509 Next Meeting:
The next meeting has been arranged for Thursday 26th February 2015 at 6.30 pm.`
